FAQs

Do you offer Pilates classes for beginners?

Yes we do.  We offer a beginners Group Mat Class, which we recommend joining initially to learn the basics and then you may move on when ready to any of the other group mat classes.  If you have been recommended to start Pilates by your Doctor, Osteopath or Physiotherapist, it would be advisable to start with a 1:1 session. 1:1 sessions are suitable for beginners and 3:1 Reformer/Studio Classes require a 1:1 class first, unless previously experienced.

Do you offer Reformer classes?

Yes. Jo has been teaching Reformer Pilates for over 10 years and we are still one of the few places to offer Reformer sessions in Ashford. These classes use Reformer and Tower based equipment and with a maximum of 3 clients per class, each client is provided with a personalised programme for their individual progression. Reformer classes are a great way to tone, strengthen and mobilise.

Do I need any experience before attending classes?

No it is not necessary to have previous experience. If you have been recommended to start Pilates by a Dr/Physiotherapist/Osteopath it is advisable to start with an initial 1:1 class.

What should I bring to the class?

You don’t need to bring any equipment with you as we will provide everything you need for the class. You are welcome to bring your own yoga mat and any other equipment should you wish, however, this is not essential. We recommend that you bring water and a small towel for hygiene reasons.

What happens if I can't make the class I've booked?

What's the difference between Pilates and Yoga?

The main difference between Pilates and Yoga is that Pilates uses movement to challenge your core strength and mobility and Yoga focusses on holding poses (asanas). Both forms of exercise are great for flexibility and strength, prevention of injury and mindfulness so it really depends on what appeals to you. If you’re not sure if Pilates is right for you then contact Jo to discuss or come a try a 1:1 first.
